This Saturday the Junior Committee hosts their annual Derby Day event at Foxhall Farm which is located an hour outside of Atlanta.  This all day  event helps bring awareness to the  Shepherd Center, Atlanta’s premier spinal cord injury research and rehabilitation.  While this event benefits a great cause, it’s also a lot of fun. With full door-to-door bus service, all day drinking, mint juleps, and of course some good ‘ole fashion horse racing; we can’t wait for the glory –beautiful woman in big hats and flower dresses. See you there.

Inman Park Festival

Over the weekend a few of us went down to the Inman Park festival to chop it up with some locals, do some serious people watching, and hear some seriously good music. While Inman Park is certainly one of my favorite sections of town, I’d never explored the Elizabeth St./Euclid St. part of the neighborhood that hosts this annual festival. Walking around and seeing all the amazing houses, you really begin to recognize what deep rich history this city really has. I was truly amazed by the size of some of these old 1800s homes and how well the whole area of town has been maintained.  As we continued walking around the festival, two features really topped off the day.  The first being the opportunity to check out Atlanta’s best artists—ranging from glass blowers, to painters, to photographers.  The second, while, yes, beer and liquor vendors peppered every corner, walking around with our own cooler overflowing with ice-cold PBR and Firefly vodka from home didn’t seem to bother anyone. This really made my day.
