DJ AM VS. DJ Premier

My favorite Atl store Standard just recently had on sale the DJ AM and DJ Premier Shoes. While I am a big fan of DJ Premier and did have the opportunity to meet him once, even it was just to load up his car with records while I was interning at a indie record label. I am a bigger fan of Dunks and AM’s so picking up the Red and black dunks was a no brainer. Here is a little clip of an interview Nike recently released that talked about the ideas and thought process that went into making both shoes.

Tod’s sunglasses

DJ AM: Nike Custom Dunks

Before his untimely death, DJ AM did a collaboration with Nike for his own Dunk. AM was a huge reason I got into sneakers myself. He was such a legend on the turntables and thought it was important to have tons of shoes, therefore I thought it was important to have tons of shoes. While I didn’t have the 600+ pairs that he had, which are now all mostly on ebay. I have managed to pick up my fair pair here an there.

James Zabiela is a one man wrecking crew with the New Pioneer 2000 CDJ

James Zabiela is a one man wrecking crew. He is the definition of a DJ and is by far one of the best examples of a DJ getting after it and not just sitting behind a laptop pushing play on itunes. James is typically a beta tester for all of Pioneers product (like 99% sure on that last comment). But what I do know is that James has been flown to the Pioneer factory to show the head design team just some of the crazy ass stuff he can do with their creation. If you dont’ believe me just watch the video below. This guy is truly amazing.

NEW PROCESS FALL / WINTER 2009

The Process has just released their Fall / Winter 2009 line at Standard. Their latest collection is entitled “Love & War”. This latest line from Epidemik Coalition was created to pay homage to one of the greatest typographers of all time, Herb Lubalin. While we don’t know much about typographers. This stuff looks official. So do yourself a favor. Head down to Standard and go get you some of their newest hotness.
